Swear by Your Independence Going solo is sometimes better Sleep in alone and get some rest She says I am an original Bad but not necessarily the best All the girls I go with swear by their independence Cause deep down they care about what I think You find another reason to give in again And we hope for a second adolescence We swear by our independence I hit you where it counts, get you where it counts, hate you where it counts Swear by your independence I don’t want to be popular I want to be famous F A M O S and his little artisans And we hope for a second adolescence We swear by our independence I hit you where it counts, get you where it counts, hate you where it counts Swear by your independence

Muse 03:24
Muse I need myself a patron Someone to help my situation Someone to question my persuasion A beautiful bug, one syllable away There’s no telling what that patron would bring Some funding, some folk rock bling-bling But hopefully some color and insight And put an end to the floundering Selfish, but I smile enough Cause my teeth are straight Even though they are Smoke and coffee stained I never questioned much Accept my lack of energy But I’m beautiful enough to persuade Anyone that has it made Oh I’ll love any muse that comes my way There’s no telling what that patron might bring Maybe we’ll find out where it is that I have been looking If nothing else, make something worth believing in again Oh I will love any muse for just one evening Or till the bitter end

Pity 03:40
Pity Never get enough time, never get enough sleep, Never take your boots off please Cause we are on call till the last chord rings out and the stage is struck That’s all we are here for till the sun comes up Complain about the days, complain about the ways That they keep us from our dreams But we are getting paid, we are tax free Don’t pity your suffering Can’t be bothered to stall I can wait forever I won’t be making a sound Self defence, pity them, lock me up, for protecting Anyone who’s willing Don’t pity your suffering Can’t be bothered to stall I can wait forever I won’t be making a sound Don’t pity your suffering Can’t be bothered to fall I will wait forever I won’t be making a sound Stay safe; stay brave, stay with this? Play it safe; be afraid but not of this Selfish things silently I have been calling, hold me, don’t be afraid Lock you up for protecting, or leave me out

Stumbling or Straight We’re not so old and boring yet But I only know you when we are walking To the DQ or the Timmy Ho’s for a treat Yours is always tasty but our stars are better Under the bridge by the water treatment plant No commitment you tell me And I want to touch you Stumbling or straight you are a good walker So have as much as want but leave the rest for me Stumbling or straight you are a smooth talker So have as much as you want but we’re leaving the car at home tonight Furious family of words without meaning Sitting through the stabbings of some poor suckers fate Twisting and flailing the free love before us And how I long to bite you and draw blood Conversation in tongues is better than none Open up your book look up all of your demons We might be crazy, but we have the same reasons Our unrest hath made us but heathens Stumbling or straight you are a good walker So have as much as want but leave the rest for me Stumbling or straight you are a smooth talker So have as much as you want but we’re leaving the car at home tonight Might only be good for you know what, but I’ll tell you what I’ll give it up Cause in the morning we can renegotiate everything anyway Stumbling or straight you are a good walker So have as much as want but leave the rest for me Stumbling or straight you are a smooth talker So have as much as you want but we’re leaving the car at home tonight

Eyeless In Gaza Right in front of the TV again Checking up on my weekly entertainment Who’s playing in town this weekend The I Don’t Care and The I Don’t Give A Damns Got to cut the damn cable Got to stop waiting for the phone to ring She says she wants to cut my hair again Style it right just for the season If she messes it up it will grow back by spring But I trust her steady hands Eyeless in Gaza at the mill with the slaves Push the pillars in and level the whole damn thing She’s my strength and weakness Push the pillars in and level the whole damn thing

Mallard Time 04:29
Mallard Time I live for the fall, for nothing at all, except to sport my autumn colors. On our way down south, miss my Canadian house, but home is where the fowl live. Fly on Mallard, gotta keep that flock flying together Sometimes I help too much, leave myself in the dust, With no one left to groom my feathers Sometimes I dive too deep, get tangled in the reeds Stirred up by the rivers current Fly on Mallard, gotta keep the flock flying together On our way down south took some lead in the mouth Greasy meat for a lonely hunter And as I die in the reeds, I can hear the dogs Coming for their supper Don’t slow down, don’t fly any lower Just remember that I was the helper Don’t slow down don’t fly any lower, just remember that I was your brother Fly on Mallard gotta keep that flock flying together

Going with the Guts Second hand smoke and second hand sweat All night they whirl and run Don’t worry baby, I’ll step out And breathe some fresh air in Back after smoke break it’s all I know I’m entertained when I’m choking Back inside babe have another one on me I don’t think I yet owe Putting the time in Singing for our dinner Taking it out on others Trying to get the words in order Bitter on the down time Filling up Betty Beau Ville Tricking my friends And my poor Christian mother It’s a fine evening I’m going with this gut It seems all knowing Except for on the weekends It just wants me to fill it Fuel for the fire And grease for the motor Better put that movie in Before it takes over Living room boredom I’ve got to make a phone call See what’s going on Get into a little trouble You can buy me a drink Or we can split a dozen Or get something harder Just depends how you are rolling Wait for the go ahead Load in load up Twisting the story So I get all the pay out Shipping and receiving Singing and believing Terribly drunk on this fine evening It’s a fine evening Work is all done time for some fun You are dripping with sweat And we smoke cause we got ‘em Light it up and smoke ‘em if you got ‘em

Joy in Numbers The sun is up but it is cold out. Seems to take the whole afternoon to warm up now. But I’ve been sleeping in too long lately, Been feeling kind of tired and lazy. Hope it’s not because the summer is fading, Hope it’s not because I’ve been lying again. Back to school chatter is in the air. But I don’t feeling like learning anything today. Rather work on keeping my beauty up, By sleeping in till it’s too late to start. I try to convince myself that I can keep it up, That my bills will get paid somehow. Join me at my table. Join hands with me. You don’t need no money To be part of my family. But I just can’t seem to stay full, Just like bottles of steam whistle And if this doesn’t cure me baby what will. For wanting too much, For saying that you’d leave him, For sticking around to see if you did So why did I quit again Join me at my table. Join hands with me You don’t gotta be loaded to be part of my family Join me at my table and pray with me You don’t gotta be loaded to be part of the family Join me, Join me.
